During the year of 2009 the BVCF´s and FVSM´s department for ecotourism ¨ProNature Travel¨ established Land Stewardship agreements with owners of rural establishment in the Serra de Tramuntana. With the financial support of the ¨Fundación Biodiversidad¨ and the ¨Obra Social Sa Nostra Caixa de Baleares¨ the BVCF was enabled to execute the program ¨Land Stewardship and Sustainable Ecotourism¨. In this unique pilot project the collaborating rural hotel and agritourisms see themselves enforced by the support of the BVCF in the sustainable management of their lands, restoration and protection of public or private paths and the installation of an area for environmental education for visitors. The website www.promallorca-ecoturismo.es forms part of the informative and promotional segment of the Project. Through the ¨ProNature Travel¨ project the rural establishment for the Land Stewardship network are promoted together with a series of related ecotourism products to our clients in Spain, England and Germany.

Our ambition for the future is to involve more rural owners of rural establishments and diversification of the ProNature Travel’s offers. In this way administration, property owners, tour operators, NGOs and tourists all together work on a sustainable future for Mallorca in which tourism and nature conservation go hand in hand.
