Why promote agreements with rural establishments?
The BVCF and the FVSM establish Land Stewardship agreements with rural establishments in the Serra de Tramuntana and adjacent regions. The objective of these agreements is to increase the socioeconomic activities of the territory in the setting of the Natura 2000 Network by de designing and promoting sustainable ecotourism products and by contributing to its conservation.
The rural establishments are a valuable source of employment
and income to the rural municipalities, by supporting them we intent to
avoid the abandons of these rural regions and to contribute to the
conservation of important natural and cultural elements.
Among others, some activities that we carry out to support the members of the Land Stewardship Network:
- Care and conservation of protected flora and fauna species
- Repair of dry stonewalls, gates, footpaths, springs, etc.
- Cleaning torrents
- Maintenance of olive groves and other traditional cultivates
- Restoration of historic heritage (limestone ovens, windmills, etc.)
- Development of routes for ecotourism
- Marking of rural paths and trails
- Preparation of informative material on the environment for tourists and visitors
