Monnàber Vell nestles in a cosy valley at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains in the municipality of Campanet. In 1998, this country estate became a rural hotel with 15 light-filled rooms where guests could savour Mediterranean life in a warm, family atmosphere.
The first references, in legal documents, to Monnàber Vell date back to 1236, after the Catalan reconquest. The premises’ rustic, fortified character was altered in the seventeenth century, when it was turned into a stately country estate.
Almond, carob, olive and fig trees are cultivated on the estate and there is also an orchard with lemon and orange trees and a small garden with a selection of aromatic herbs. Three hundred sheep pasture in the meadows and the suckling pigs and lambs bred in the vicinity lend their delicate flavour to the culinary specialties. The estate lies on 40 hectares of cultivated land and 120 hectares of forest and mountain.
